Click here to see all workshops for 2010!

In addition to our more structured workshops, we have our classic
conference events, such as the Art and Game Decks,
Children’s Playroom, Construction Zone, Swap-a-rama-rama and Water Play Zone. We’re
also adding and expanding some of our newer items as well. We’re changing the name of the ATC Room to the Paper Arts Salon, where you’ll be able to both attend more intricate craft workshops
and also have free time to just hang out and craft with friends. It will also be open into the evening, as another
alternative place to gather in the evening. New this year is the Bead and Fiber
Arts Salon; it too will be a place to enjoy a few structured workshops as well as hang out and create both day and
evening! We are also going to have two other salons that will be open for one and a half days each. One
will be the Math and Brain Games Salon, where you can attend workshops on math topics,
play math-related games, and do all kinds of puzzles and such. The other will be the Literary
Arts Salon, where the topics will be writing, poetry, book discussions, and publishing. Since we have limited
space, these two salons will share one room over the course of the weekend, but don’t worry, it’ll be clear on
our printed schedule! Once again, Rose Vasquez will generously bring to
us her wonderful science area, Alchemy Alcove (see below)! There will be
lots of hands on stuff to satisfy your inner scientist!
In
the courtyard, we’re going to have various opportunities for team play and physical activities. Everything from
water wars, to martial arts to volleyball, to old-time picnic games will be offered out there this year. We’d
love more ideas and perhaps to have some of our local groups get together and host unique activities in this area this year.
Would your local homeschool group like to host an activity? Maybe organize a volleyball game using sheets to catch and
throw? A hula hoop spin off? A water ballon war? Epic freeze tag? If so, please send an
email to info@hscconference.com.
Alchemy Alcove Do you love science? Like to play around with experiments? If so, you'll
want to make sure to spend some of your Saturday at Alchemy Alcove in the Grove! In addition to several hands-on science stations including
Kitchen Chemistry,
Super Absorbant Polymers, Insta Worms, Dry Ice Bubbles, Natural Science Table, Physics Science Table, Etc., our Potions Mistress,
Rose Vasquez will be leading the following experiments throughout the day: Light Up Circuit Project Static Electricity Magic Wand Noise Makers Spectroscopes Rainbows in a Test
